OUR MIND BODY TEEN

We are a collaboration of like minded people from Billericay, who started out in 2017, wanting to make a difference to young people, and encourage and support mental health awareness, through partnering with schools.

Struck by the apparent upsurge in mental health issues experienced by young people, and after the tragedy of a local schoolgirl taking her own life, Sarah noticed just how much her community really cared about the younger generations. This was particularly apparent when she saw the love and sadness expressed on her local Facebook discussion page.

Having experienced depression and eating disorders as a young adult, Sarah realised just how much she had learnt and grown and healed herself through lifestyle choices and activities since those days. Wanting to share that with young people, Sarah looked to local schools as a partner in engaging with young people. Giving them a chance to get a step ahead when it came to self-awareness and emotional wellbeing. Sarah is also a fashion designer and loves making clothes for her daughter to dress up in.

Sarah and Jayne both work as fully qualified Psychotherapists in their private practices in Billericay. Their passion for supporting people through their journeys to better mental health has led them to work for a local charity where they do into schools working with referred pupils experiencing trauma. Together we are proud to run MindBodyTeen alongside our other ventures.

Louise has 15+ years experience as a public health professional focusing on improving both physical and mental health and wellbeing. She is currently working as a Senior Public Health Specialist for the London Borough of Havering  but is also keen to put her professional knowledge into use helping her local community. As well as being a local mum, Louise has personal experience of post traumatic stress & depression. She is therefore in a unique position to be able to translate national advice into practical initiatives to support and improve young people's mental health and wellbeing, keeping the person at the heart of what we do. Her advice, based on research evidence, national guidance and best practice, has been highly valuable in setting up the driving principles behind Mind Body Teen to make a difference to young people's lives. (She's also a dab hand with snakes!).
